Well, I've done my list of lovable and not-too-lovable K-Dramalands heroines, now I better start with the heroes. The typical heroes you'd found on Korean drama is stinky, rude, and in-your-face attitudes rich guy who'd fall for innocent girl.Yeah, you'll find tons of them yet still attracted to watch them (me too, in this case). So, now I'll write the list about some memorable heroes on K-Drama....
THE LOVABLE
5. Byun Hyung Tae
I bet only a few of you know who this lovely man is... It's Byung Hyung Tae, from romance-slice of life drama 9 End 2 Out. He's not your typical K-Drama male lead who's rich and snob, yeah, he's sometimes a bit rude but not the kind of rude that'll make you want to punch him on his face. The lovable part about him is... he's just the kind of guy you can possibly find as your friend or neighbor. He's not a chaebol but he's not a beggar either. Hyung Tae cares about the female lead so much, he washed her clothes, make foods for her, tidying her room... and all the things you'd want from a perfect boyfriend. Not to mention he's hot... and so he made on this list!
4. Cha Dong Joo
4. Cha Dong Joo
A rarely found imperfect type of K-Drama heroes. Well, he looks perfect from the outside but sadly, he can't hear. Cha Dong Joo fell from the 2nd floor on his childhood and lost his hearing, those made the drama title "Can You Hear My Heart?". I don't know if it's because Kim Jae Won that makes this character so perfect, but I love how he's not affected by the fact that he can't hear. Imagine how hard for him to make people around him not noticing that he's deaf... But, the way he cares for his childhood lovers and the way he determined to not be pitied as disabled person are some good things to admire!
3. Kwon Jae Hee
Don't be fooled and deceived by his cute and mesmerizing looks because he's one of the smartest (on the wrong way) K-Drama villains that ever written. His good demeanor totally fools people around him that Kwon Jae Hee the famous chef is a blood thirsty, sick and psychopathic serial murderer. He murders random people once every 12 months and craves bar-codes on their wrist, claiming his victims. Before killing them, he made them write books about their happy life and he killed them, he thought that after that, their happiness became his. SICK. But hey, I most admit it that he's the sexiest and mathematically strategic and smart and awesome villain on K-Drama... I'm not rooting for him but can't help to like him...
2. Cha Woo Jin
Talking about smart people on K-Drama, it's rare to find the male lead to be smart because usually God changes their brains with money. The smart badasses are usually the bad ones... but Cha Woo Jin is not totally the bad or the good one. He's the antihero of K-Drama Liar Games. He's genius, logical, insensitive and... handsome ahjussi (lol). He helped the hero to win some cunning gambling games called liar games. People trust him to find the way to win and deceive the game maker. I love every part when the drama reveals the way he thinks and his way to win. So, the runner up for the best hero is the genius Cha Woo Jin as you know that smart is the new sexy.
1. Joo Byung Hee
Before you read too far, I'd like to remind you that he's a cameo. In case you din't read it, I'll say it once again... he's a CAMEO. How could a cameo become first on this list? Because Joo Byung Hee's character is that damn good. No, he's not smart, he's not handsome (tho he's actually handsome for me) and he's not rich either. On the opposite, he's crazy, lunatic and solve everything with fist. But it's not those things that made him best... it's his solidarity for his friends. He put his buddies above anything else... above himself. Totally a selfless leader and when he's gone, his band members were totally grieving for their lost. If you don't understand the fact what makes him awesome, I suggest you to watch the first two episodes of Shut Up Flower Boybands (I dropped it after he dies)... And cry a river... Byung Hee-ya....
THE NOT-SO-LOVABLE
1. Enrique Geum
I'm not gonna lie and admit it that he's totally adorable. Enrique Geum is a genius too, he produces games or some stuffs like that. But why I don't like him? Because, writer-nim, must you make him excessively doing anything while trying hard to be cute? It's just too much -_- sometimes it gets really annoying when he keeps nagging the heroine (which I don't like too) and being totally insensitive about his surroundings. Well, sorry, I love you but... this yuck feeling for too-much-aegyo hero makes you got on this list.
2. Lee Young Jae
Rain is hot... really hot mess on this drama. No one doubt that Rain is adorable, but his character as Lee Young Jae is just plain rude and not awesome at all. When I first watched it, I thought that he was just... well... annoying, but after I compared with the Thailand version, this Hallyu star character just seems so... rude and cruel and evil to the heroine. He yells, he ignores, he ditched dates and nags and disturbing and annoys Han Ji Eun and totally doesn't treat her as a woman for about 14 episodes... Well yeah, some drama heroes realize love really late on the episodes but no one treat the heroine as rude as him.
3. Kang Tae Joon
Bad points : not realizing someone as feminine as Go Jae Hee as a woman (a bit stupid here, the Japanese one looks more believable) and stalker is always creepy but he loves her (Go Jae Hee is the worst kind of sasaengs). Period.
4. Kim Tan
No one doubts that Lee Min Ho is one of the best looking actor ever born in Korea. But I hate the fact that the character he plays is another spoiled chaebol (well, he got the look for being a rich boy, ahem, man). Truthfully, he looks too old to be a student but well, blame it on the casting crews. Kim Tan is one of the most spoiled rich brat that you'd encounter on K-dramalands. The worst part is that the drama made it seems like he's the good guy when he's actually has similar behaviors with the bad guy. He's forceful, arrogant, irresponsible, insensitive, rude... well yeah he loves his Mom, but sorry, I can't really forgive the way you behave... Kim Tan.
5. Hwang Tae Kyung
As much as I love Jang Geun Suk, but Hwang Tae Kyung is actually not that likeable for me. I know that K-Drama heroines always fall for the jerks... but... Hwang Tae Kyung is... Yeah, he's the typical spoiled rich man character who acts arrogant and got used to have anything the way he wants. But he's really insensitive (and it tends to look stupid at times) and indecisive. He doesn't realize that he freaking love the heroines until the last episode and oh my God... I don't even know if the heroines just too stupid too realize that he's a jerk or she's just blinded by... love.
So, that wraps my list of Best and Worst Korean Drama characters (both heroes and heroines)... Thank's for reading anyway!
